Notable Charm

Although founded in the 1830s, the city began a redevelopment and revitalization plan in 2005 to update and restore the downtown area. This process has sparked the expansion of museums, parks, a performing arts center and even a farmers market. The revitalized historic downtown has preserved some of the town’s unique history, and the area now has a Performing Arts Center as well as a community playhouse theater. And with 70 miles of trails to walk, a skate park and a variety of golf courses, the town has a plethora of activities for families and homebuyers.

Backstory

A community of Alabama Creek Natives settled in the Broken Arrow region after the Trail of Tears, naming the region Rekackv, meaning broken arrow, after their old home in Alabama. With much of Broken Arrow’s industry derived from agriculture and coal, the city did not grow much during the beginning of the 20th century. However, the creation of the Broken Arrow Expressway in the 1960s caused the region to grow into a thriving suburban area, making Broken Arrow homes some of the best in the Tulsa metro area.
